2025 Global Broadcast & Peace Day Conversation
September 20-21, 2025
What does Peace Mean to You?

From September 19–21, 2025, the world will gather for the Unite 4 Peace Global Peace Broadcast—a 48-hour, interactive celebration honoring Pathways to Peace, co-founders of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace and their 40 years of pioneering peacebuilding.

Across 48 regions and time zones, the broadcast will weave together music, cultural traditions, and citizen voices, all centered on a guiding question: “What does Peace mean to me?” Each hour, local NGOs, youth leaders, and creators will share stories, performances, and initiatives, with live technical production anchored from Vancouver. A unifying Pause for Peace at the top of every hour will honor those who have given their lives for peace, creating a rhythm of remembrance and solidarity.

This year carries special significance. September 21, 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the first International Day of Peace, first celebrated in 1984. In the week leading up to this milestone, communities across the globe will participate in Peace Week (September 14–21), a convergence of events, collaborations, and networks committed to harmony and unity.

On September 21, the world will come together for a 24-hour shared experience and global broadcast, linking live moments from Hiroshima, San Francisco, New York, Geneva, London, Addis Ababa, and beyond. The day will culminate in the Peace Wave—a minute of silence observed at noon in every time zone, creating a rolling wave of reflection around the planet.

With an estimated reach of over 3 billion people, the International Day of Peace has become humanity’s most universal “planetary day.” The Unite 4 Peace Broadcast offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to amplify diverse voices, spotlight grassroots peacebuilding, and inspire millions to see themselves as co-creators of a more compassionate and united world.

Together, we will weave a living tapestry of peace. Together, we will UNITE 4 PEACE.

UNITE 4 PEACE

WE WILL UNITE

September 2025 represents an unmissable opportunity to UNITE 4 PEACE. Building on many decades of pioneering peace work, this International Day of Peace on September 21st marks the 40th anniversary of the first global celebration, which took place back in 1984.
